Description: A historical treasure! This rare Cutler & Son’s roll top desk was patented in 1875, in select walnut with burl accents, it’s a wonderful example of innovative Victorian design. This desk was originally a physician’s desk, with unique glass enclosed top to allow additional light onto the two rotating six-level carousels originally used to hold medical chemicals. Another highly unusual attribute is the alternating tambours in the roll, which retracts into the underside of the desks leather top. Truly magnificent, with fully raised paneling, including knee-well area, original hardware and gorgeous original French polished finish. C.1875. 48"H x 54"W x 39"D.
